How Long Do I Have to File a Personal Injury Claim in Texas?

According to the Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code section 16.003, the statute of limitations for personal injury cases in the state of Texas is two years. The law that dictates how long injury victims have to file is called the statute of limitations.

More specifically, this law states that you have two years from the date your injury occurred to file your claim, or you will lose your right to file and your right to recover compensation. This law applies to everyone, so you will have a time limit to file, even if your injuries are very severe. It’s important to note that there are exceptions that can change this time limit.
