Criminal Defense

defense-attorney-greg.jpg Sometimes mistakes happen, and when they do, we are there to help.

Having worked as a prosecutor and trying these types of cases helps in evaluating, negotiating and trying them on the defense side, as well.

Common misdemeanor and felony charges that we represent several on are DWI/DUI, probation violation, assault or family violence assault, juvenile crimes and drug possession (from marijuana, cocaine, and meth to common prescription type medication, like Xanax, Hydrocodone/Vicodin and Soma).

Unfortunately, the stigma in society is that you are guilty if you have been charged. Even if most are guilty, the adage is that you are innocent until proven guilty. Overcoming this stigma can be difficult, but ultimately the State has to be accountable, as the courts have ruled, for their work and must present their case properly within the statutory and constitutional guidelines prescribed.

Aside from this, receiving a criminal charge, depending on the charge and the outcome of your case, it could affect your job, your freedom, your driver’s license, your ability to carry a concealed handgun, your ability to remain in your home, and your record for the rest of your life.

Each case is different, and the circumstances are different, but ultimately you need an attorney who is right for your case and the county where your charge is pending. I have often told clients that most of the time it is best to hire an attorney for their criminal matter who is an ex-prosecutor from that county, or from the general area.

I have represented criminal clients all over the state, and I have dissuaded clients from hiring me when the case is not within the Brazoria, Galveston, Fort Bend or Harris County area, but ultimately it is the clients decision, and many clients have chosen my representation “out of town” despite my frankness and honesty due to their comfort level with me and confidence in me handling their case.
